Pattern notches are small marks made on the pattern to ensure that one pattern piece will match up to the pattern next to it. They are used as markers along a seam to make sure that the two pieces of fabric join accurately & to show what size the seam allowance is.
Mark notches onto your fabric with a 2mm snip , for delicate or loose weave fabrics use chalk or a fabric marker.
